“For Good,” the powerful new single from NYC-based artist Magz, is an inspiring reminder to allow yourself to let go of the things that you can’t change.
The remarkably talented singer/songwriter & producer has a similar vibe to artists such as Alessia Cara. Her vocals have a beautiful tone that is comforting and feels like having a conversation with a dear friend. “For Good” is short and sweet, but it makes such a strong impact. While it’s unquestionably raw and real, there is so much depth and dimension within every element. This track was written by Maggie Roberts, Maddy Abela and Rich Tuorto. Magz’s lyricism will resonate with listeners as she cleverly puts into words these vulnerable thoughts and emotions that nearly everyone will experience. There’s a freedom in deciding to accept the way that certain things are in life, especially when they cannot be changed. Magz describes this as being an act of self love, and we completely agree. Easier said than done, of course.

The instrumentals are a lovely combination of ethereal and dynamic. Featuring some organic sounds like birds chirping and background chatter, perhaps this could possibly represent putting the focus back on the here and now instead of losing yourself in the fruitless task of trying to change what simply cannot be changed. It’s sort of reminiscent of a therapeutic grounding practice where you’re meant to notice your 5 senses. Not sure if this was the intention, but the great thing about art is that it’s always up for interpretation.
“For Good” is the second track from Magz’ upcoming EP. After listening to her previous singles, “I don’t like you at night” (2022) and “Sorry” (2020), it’s evident that she has such a special songwriting style.
