Luxtides has released her new EP, Flood Sounds

I believe Luxtides describes this body of work best:

“Anger. Denial. Depression. Bargaining. Acceptance. The 5 stages of grief, one for each song, experienced slightly out of order.”

Each track on Flood Sounds stands firmly on its own, but also blends so brilliantly together to create a stunningly cohesive EP.

“Echo”, “Fragile”, “Dark” and “Dreams” were all released as singles prior to the drop of Flood Sounds. This gave listeners time to deeply connect with the messages, and fall in love with Luxtides’s effortlessly gorgeous vocals, poetic lyrics, and addicting instrumental sound.

Joining these singles is a new track called, “Salt”. Wanting to let go of the weight you’ve been carrying for too long, “Salt” is getting yourself out of that situation and standing in your powerful strength. Although this song is obviously very personal to Luxtides, it seems like the message could mean something different to each listener, depending on individual experiences.

Ohio-based artist Alex Angelo is making a positive impact with his recent single, “Mirror”.

Within the first few seconds, the track’s catchy pop instrumentals are immediately gripping. Angelo has had a passion for djing from a young age, and that is felt throughout the overall sound. Not only is that aspect of “Mirror” pleasing to listen to, it also accompanies the meaningful lyrics and Angelo’s inviting vocals perfectly.

Angelo explains that, “it’s one of my songs that has a message - encouraging people to take a hard look at themselves, and the people they surround themselves with. We are so affected by our circles. Don’t change for anyone else.”

Watch the official music video for “Mirror”:

The delivery of this message is subtle, but powerful. “Mirror” is a nice reminder to stay vigilant about who is around you and what they’re contributing to your life and happiness.

Highwind, described as a “two-piece pop-rock outfit,” has just released an incredible acoustic version of their song, “Afterlife”.

“Afterlife (Acoustic)” begins with instrumentals that are emotional, and quickly grasp your heartstrings. The pain is felt so strongly within the vocals, which are accompanied by touchingly personal lyrics that will still resonate with many. There is a great deal of love, respect and admiration throughout, and the way it’s written in a poetic letter style is simplistically perfect.

"Highwind wants to spread one message through their music; that it is okay to be open and honest with yourself and others. Their songwriting involves a raw expression of honest emotions. These songs are there to encourage their listeners to speak out and be open about how they feel.”

As someone who tends to gravitate towards acoustic tracks, I found that “Afterlife (Acoustic)” makes such a strong impact, and is just breathtakingly beautiful in every way possible.

Highwind explains that, “Afterlife (Acoustic) is the band’s way of ending the “How’ve You Been?” era on a very personal note from Chris Russo”. Although the EP was an exceptional project from the duo, their most recent release, “2023”, has evoked excitement for what’s to come. Can’t wait!
